Performance Testing for Power BI and Data services

Performance testing work is underway to assess the responsiveness and efficiency of Power BI reports using the Performance Analyzer tool. This helps identify slow-running visuals, heavy DAX queries, and rendering dependencies that may impact user experience.

In parallel, exploratory activity has begun to understand how ETL/ELT pipeline performance can be tested consistently, ensuring data processing stages are measured in a meaningful and reproducible way.

For the web applications that host these reports, performance assurance continues to be delivered through the existing NHSBSA Performance Testing Framework, ensuring end-to-end user journeys are validated effectively.

The NHSBSA Test community are evaluating how these reporting and data-layer performance capabilities can be standardised and embedded into wider delivery practices to maximise value with minimal disruption.
